What Must We Do To Be Saved?HEAR＂Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures＃ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). BELIEVE＂But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him＃ (Hebrews 11:6). REPENT＂The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.＃ (Acts 17:30-31) CONFESS＂For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation＃ (Romans 10:10). BE BAPTIZED＂When the patience of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him＃ (1 Peter 3:20-22). In Romans chapters 4, 5, and 6 the apostle Paul wrote about faith, grace, and baptism (in that order). Therefore, we find that grace bridges the gap between faith and baptism. BE RIGHTEOUSIt is not earning salvation when we keep His commandments; it is gracious obedience, happy obedience: the obedience of faith, as the apostle Paul wrote to the Romans at the beginning and end of his letter to them (Romans 1:5; 16:26).
